This utility has been designed to give you an approximate rating of your overall download speed on the internet.

This test, as with all speed tests, cannot accurately determine your full available download speed on the internet as there are many factors that can affect this speed.

Issues that will affect your download speed include:

  1. How physically close you are to the source you are downloading from and the distance the data has to physically travel to reach you.
  2. Current status and health of the internet as a whole. Heavy loads in networks you are downloading from or downloading thru can severely slow down your internet performance.
  3. Current condition of your connection, such as if you are downloading other files while running the speed test or if there are other issues slowing your speed down.

To begin the test, select one of the options below. The first option "Dial-Up Test" should be used if you connect to the internet via a dial-up connection (connections slower than 256kb). The second option "Broadband Test" should be used if you connect via some broadband type of connection such as DSL, or Cable connections (connections faster than 256kb).
