How can I stop Telemarketing Calls? Wisconsin's No Call List began on January 1, 2003 but consumers can sign up at any time. Signing up identifies you as someone who does not wish to receive telemarketing calls. It's free and available for residential telephone customers in Wisconsin. Your number will remain on the list for two years. To sign up call 1-866-9NO-CALL (1-866-966-2255) toll-free in Wisconsin or online at https://nocall.wisconsin.gov/web/registration.asp. What should I do if I have telephone trouble? First you should unplug all phone lines in the house including satellite tv, computers, fax machines, etc. Also unplug the electric cords on your cordless telephones. Then plug one phone in at a time to see if you get service. This will show you what equipment may be causing the trouble. If this does not work, you need to make sure the line is good up to the house. To do this you must check the line at the Network Interface Device. Most Lakeland customer have a 'gray box' attached to the outside of their homes, usually at the point where the telephone company lines enter the premises. This box, known as the "Network Interface Device", or NID, is designed to protect life and property from high voltage surges such as lightning and commercial power. This device also services as a test point for customers to determine where the trouble with their service is. 1. Open the Network Interface device by using a screwdriver. 2. On the line one side, press retainer clip and gently remove plug by pulling forward on plug. 3. Plug a phone you know is working into the jack. 4. If you receive a dial tone, your house wiring is defective. Lakeland will repair your interior wiring on a time and material basis. Testing with more than one phone will provide more accurate results. 5. If you don't receive a dial tone, the trouble could be in lines outside of your house. please contact us at the Luck (715-472-2101) or Milltown (715-825-2171) offices and we'll begin the repair. 6.
